Beginning March 31st, your Authentication Image & Pass Phrase will no longer be displayed when you log in to Online Banking.

We're making it easier for you to access your account online, while continuing to protect you and your money with our powerful, multilayered security system.

Here's how our powerful security measures work:

LOG IN CREDENTIALS

The first level requires the correct entry of a user ID and password.  These must match system records or access is denied.

DEVICE CHECK

Then we check the device you are using - whether it's your computer, mobile phone or tablet. If we don't recognize the device, we may ask you to complete a pre-selected security challenge question to ensure your identity.

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION

We also check geographic indicators. If you're trying to log in from a new location, we may ask additional questions.

What is changing with our online banking log in process?

Beginning March 31, 2014, your authentication image and pass phrase will no longer be displayed when you log in to our online and mobile banking services.

Why is this changing?

Originally,the Site Verification feature helped reassure customers that your financial institution's online banking site is genuine; however, other, more modern mechanisms have largely eliminated the feature's usefulness. In addition to the traditional user name and password required at login and the existing security challenge questions, this upgrade employs device forensics to seamlessly authenticate your computer or other device being used to access online accounts.

Who is affected?

Consumer and business account holders that utilize online and mobile banking with bank of Clarke County.

Is online banking secure?

Yes, we use multiple levels of authentication to protect your information. At every log in attempt we verify all of the following:

  1. A valid User ID and Password.
  2. Your computer or mobile device must be recognized.
  3. And your geographic location.

Can I log in from another computer, or a different location?

Yes. For additional security,you will be required to complete a security challenge.

Will my password change with this update?

No, you will see no other changes to your log in process. However, we recommend changing passwords every six months. Be sure to use strong passwords:

  1. Minimum of 8 random characters.
  2. Use at least one number and one special character.
